Multi Media 111 Final Project:
I've learned a lot in this class. After 14 years of working for the graphic design biz, technology and procedures had changed dramatically. No longer are there PMTs, color keys and rubylith. "Copy and Paste" was really copy and paste. Gone are the Macintosh Centris and 3-pass scanning. My world was filled with CMYK separations, imagesetters, aluminum plates and dot-gain. 40# wove or 60# offset cover? PMS 327 or PMS 260. How close can we match that color to the monitor? Ooops a mistake - need to re-run the job, 10 thousand of them. Ouch.
Now things are different - and demand has changed. Everything's is going digital - your entire life is now 1s and 0s. Photos? - Digital. Movies? - Digital. Music? - Digital. People are joining together in a global super-network. It makes for progress. It's faster, interactive - and the end experience results in one solid confirmation. Graphic Design has a new hat.
Multimedia and Geographic Awareness:
I originally chose Australia as my country, but I realized there was another important second assignment here: to be more aware of the world. I know a lot about Australia already - so I chose another country that I don't know anything about - Greenland.
How can Multimedia be used to teach others about Geographic Awareness? These 2 Cisco commercials sum it up nicely.
Multimedia can be used to expand awareness by: The Web: by creating websites that educate people about different countries, people, politics, and viewpoints. Blogs: learn about the lives of individuals all over the world. Interactive Games: It's amazing what you learn about cultural viewpoints from a players across the globe. Movies and Videos: Watch and learn - but don't believe everything. Instant Messaging, Live Chat, PDAs: There are voices all over the earth that are connected. - all you have to do is listen.
